How will it help to increase student numbers?
It will increase learner numbers by showing clearly where there is high participation and low participation and allows you to target your marketing. It will however probably leave you with questions you would like to investigate further as you begin to wonder why certain groups of people come from different areas.

How can I use this info to increase our income?

Targeted marketing is more efficient and therefore saves money. Targeted marketing is also more likely to increase its impact and may result in increased numbers of learners. Certain priority areas can also be targeted meaning that additional income may be generated from specific groups of learners.

This pack will benefit all education suppliers
Any organisation which can identify their learners or clients by postcode can benefit. The more information that is attributed to the client postcode – i.e the information you hold about a person the more we can tailor the work. The greater the detail the more market information we can display. For the college mapping pack we would can use the ILR format or other management data you supply. We are able to access ILR through the Learning and Skills council but this requires us to complete data sharing protocols.

We have found that the presentation of data geographically provides additional insight to standard reporting. By using participation rates you can establish potential markets.

Combined with this you can ensure that you are supplying the equality and diversity needs of an area because you can see the providers learner population profiled alongside the local general population.

. These range from data management, information analysis and the provision of location based services.
To do this we have managed a long standing access to government data sources and are expert users of leading software including SPSS, Accession, MapInfo, Manifold and GeoConcept. We have also developed bespoke visualisation solutions for use in website tools.

Our expertise and service offer has grown significantly in the last five years and we are now able to support organisations better than ever before. For example in the last year we have supported clients in the provision of transport accessibility studies.

We have also mapped adult outreach centres with worklessness data to inform choices on service provision

We will be offering additional services
Future offers

SKILLS-including curriculum areas and level of study

KEY STATISTICS Learning and labour market information

PERFORMANCE REPORTS including success rates

We offer a range of services from mapping a list of postcodes through to detailed analysis of client databases which we combine with other data to make it more meaningful. For example we carry out:
Transport accessibility studies – to inform the development of sites;

Labour market assessments – to identify potential markets or target groups;

Mapping of service provision – to inform overlap of activity;

Database management – to support improved data quality.

Can I see what's happening ref my competitors?

We have previously undertaken analyses in partnership with the LSC to produce data on total participation rates of learners in an area. This means that you can identify your own market share and identify the market share of all other publicly funded providers operating in the area.

We are able to provide the specialist expertise to supplement in-house or contracted research. For example by providing maps to agencies that are working for organisations. We also have an in-depth understanding of ILR processes, including the construction of Minimum Levels of Performance reports.
Individuals have to travel to access provision and are therefore constrained by existing routes and public services. By presenting roads on a map combined with learner locations this can demonstrate the catchment areas of specific sites.
