The fresh young talent of students from the New College Nottingham (ncn) Junior Academies was celebrated at a special Junior Academy Showcase held on Saturday 28th June at ncn’s Clarendon Courtyard Theatre.

Designed as a 10 week Saturday morning programme, ncn academies help develop the talents of young people considering their future career paths within a realistic work environment. ncn Academies are held in five areas, including; Junior Chefs Academy, Junior Pastry Chefs, Junior Hairdressers & Beauty Therapists, Junior Fashion Designers, and Junior All Stars in Music & Performing Arts.

Following a canapé reception prepared by Junior Chefs and Junior Pastry Chefs, graduates from the Junior Fashion Designers and Junior Hairdressers & Beauty Therapists demonstrated the skills learnt during their course in a catwalk show. The event culminated with the graduation of the Junior Fashion Designers.

Director of Lifestyle, Adrian Pratt, said: “The Saturday morning academies provide fantastic, hands-on vocational experiences for young learners aged 14-16, giving them a real insight into potential learning programmes and future career paths they may wish to pursue. They are a unique offer and a key feature of ncn’s 14-16 curriculum strategy to provide potential learners and their parents with an opportunity to make the right choices for the future.”
