Specialist education and skills consultancy Communications Management has been named the number one PR agency in the public sector outside of London and number six nationally. This ranking is the first public sector league table to be published by industry magazine PR Week.

Communications Management achieved its top slot based on the fee income for work in its specialist sectors of Education and Skills, Health, Workplace, Enterprise and Regeneration which totalled £868,000 in 2007 and accounted for 55% of the firm’s revenue.

The consultancy was among the first PR companies to respond to the needs of Education and Skills clients. It now works with universities, colleges, schools, business schools, education bodies and agencies, commercial partners in education and education charities.

Education practice director Justin Shaw said: “We have a hugely knowledgeable and talented team drawn from backgrounds across the education and skills sector who attract clients to the company and retain them by delivering outstanding work.

“The ranking is fantastic recognition of them and signals that we are a distinctive, important and significant player in our niche.”
